ART NOUVEAU NECKLACE---ENAMEL---DIAMONDS--TIFFANY BOX From the private collection of Antiquessideshow. (Dealing in antique jewelry and antiques for over 50 years). Acquired personally over 45 years ago, it has remained in my possesion, previously having been secured in a bank vault for decades. This magnificent Art Nouveau necklace has French hallmarks, some too tiny or worn to distinguish possible makers. The necklace is in its original box, sold from Tiffany's establishment in Paris in the late 1800's or early 1900's. The box is inscribed: Tiffany & Cie--36-bis --Avenue de L'Opera--Paris. With its tiny hallmarks and limited viewing by antique jewelry dealers possessing enough experience to venture opinions as to makers, they have included Rene Lalique, Henri Vever and Louis Aucoc, amongst others. The pendant is centered upon a female enamel face with flowing golden enamel hair, set in a star-fish of old varied-cut European diamonds. This against a background of pink and green enamel in a floral design. Hosted by a unique and beautiful gold chain are six matching miniature star-fish--about 3/4" each, also with graceful enameling and diamonds. The necklace measures 25 1/2" long---the pendant with pearl and diamonds is 1 3/4" wide--3" long. (There is missing from the back a pin to hold the pendant down if desired, apparently dismissed by the previous owner). In my career dealing with antique jewery, obviously this was most admired and coveted. The necklace is comparable in beauty and elegance to any Art Nouveau jewelry I have seen through the years, including books and catalogues.
